Recreation in the area
Close to the park there are a bowling alley, a riding school and a winter sports center which are open every day of the year. In fifteen minutes you walk to recreation "De Berendonck", a big lake, surrounded by beach and lawn.. Here you can swim. But also surfing, hiking and golf at the 18 hole golf course are possible. The floating water enthusiasts may well go to the marina at the "Loon Waard" in Batenburg or in Grave. If the weather is less pleasant, subtropical swimming pool "De Meerval" in Oosterpark in Wijchen will offer an excellent alternative. Indoor playground for children is “Monkey Town” a paradise. In good weather they can pick their children's hearts to play in the “De Blije Dries”. Both playgrounds are found in Wijchen.

Wighenerhorst bungalow is centrally located in the historic river landscape between Maas and Waal, about 6 km southwest of Nijmegen, the town where the Four Days Marches will take place every year in July. The richly varied Mesopotamia with forests, idyllic ponds (where you also can fish), lakes and polders and river landscapes, invites for long walks, bicycle trips or boat trips. Because there is no specific case of mass tourism, you can enjoy the beautiful and quiet nature landscapes. In the vicinity of the park are also numerous historical and modern sights to see. There are several castles and ruins that are worth visiting. A number of castles you can look inside, including the castle in Hernen "Floris" was recorded. And what about the "Mookerheide", this is also worth it. In Nijmegen you can enjoy shopping, but also visit various museums. Monday and Saturday are market days. A visit to Nijmegen is highly recommended, especially when you quit the day with a drink in one of the many restaurants in town. But Wijchen has also an attractive center with various shops and restaurants. The market is on Thursday. On foot, by bike or by car, in the immediate vicinity of the park is plenty to see and experience for young and old.
